I waited in the queue for 40 minutes only to be told in the end that I had taken the wrong ticket. There is no English language option on the ticket machine. I had to use Google Translate, and out of everything it translated, only one option seemed relevant — but it turned out to be incorrect. Please add a language selection option. Your bank is used not only by local residents, but also by tourists.
Not recommended. Awful service. I just have arrived to the bank. Customer service is not helpful. I registered viettel card and arrived to bank. Now they say I should go back to viettel again to top up my card. Noone wants to help, and I don't have time to go back to viettel as that was far away and I have luggage with me.
Really nice bank branch! As a foreigner, you can open an account( which means you can pay by scanning QR code) You need to bring passport with visa and Vietnamese sim card under your name. The staff are so polite and can speak perfect English, and I get my bank account in 30 mins without waiting😊
Opening a bank account as a foreigner here took me about 2 hours with a moderate queue (30 minutes for the queue, 90 minutes for the rest). They don't provide a card, but QR codes work fine, and you can always top it up via Wise or a similar service. I've been asked to provide a Vietnamese phone number, an e-visa, and a passport. To speed it up, one could grab a form (two pages) and fill it out on one's own while waiting in line, as it's referred to in English. The staff was extremely friendly and went out of their way to communicate in English via apps. The office itself is large and well-maintained. As a side note, phone numbers are being resold in VN. If the previous owner stopped using their number and was a bank customer, then you won't be able to use that phone number to register with the bank.
If you are a foreigner and your local number is already registered to someone else, this could pose an issue when opening an account. However, it can be resolved at a mobile operator branch with your passport. Staff is very helpful and empathetic.
